Bike Donors

There are lots of different bikes on the market but some seem more desirable for car-engine transplants than others.

Here is a basic summary of the more powerful engines available:

Engine/Bike Approx Capacity Approx Power Approx Torque Image
Honda Fireblade (CBR900) 900cc 126bhp @ 10,500RPM 67 lb-ft @ 8,500RPM blade
Kawasaki ZZR1100 1100cc 147bhp @ 10,500RPM 81 lb-ft @ 8,500RPM zzr
Yamaha YZF-R1 1000cc 148bhp @ 10,000RPM 80 lb-ft @ 8,500RPM t_99R1.jpg (2672 bytes)
Honda Blackbird (CBR1100X) 1100cc 161bhp @ 10,000RPM 92 lb-ft @ 7,250RPM bbird
Suzuki Hayabusa 1300cc 175bhp 105 lb-ft hayabusa

Other donors include:

Kawasaki ZX9R (900cc from the Ninja - 138bhp),  Susuki GSXR1100 (125bhp - 150bhp), Suzuki Bandit 1200 (120bhp).

From the Honda Sales-Blurb

Offering the ultimate combination of compact dimensions, high horsepower and light weight (just 146.2 lbs.), the CBR®900RR's 919cc, 16-valve, liquid-cooled, inline 4-cylinder engine features a one-piece upper crankcase/cylinder assembly for added rigidity.

Its right-side cam-drive also contributes to its compact size.

The engine's 16-valve cylinder head features compact combustion chambers with a narrow 32-degree included valve angle for efficient combustion.

An 11.1:1 compression ratio contributes to high torque output throughout the rpm band.

High-pressure formed, aluminum composite cylinder sleeves provide better wear resistance and superior heat dissipation than steel sleeves.

Pistons feature a new LUB-Coat solid lubricant to minimize friction between the piston and cylinder wall.

The 3-D mapped ignition module optimizes engine performance and throttle response.

Stainless-steel exhaust headers feed an aluminum silencer
